BICS, a Belgium communications carrier with existing offices in Brussels, Bern and Dubai, as well as Singapore and New York has announced the opening opened three new offices in Accra, Nairobi and Cape Town to bolster its sales and services in the Africa region.
Part of the Belgacom Group, BICS has been providing a range of services to the African market for over 15 years, and regional operators have been able to rely on BICS’ extensive and fully owned network and the company is now looking to leverage this brand recognition.
Clémentine Fournier, BICS regional vice president for Africa, noted: “Our company is expanding and we have several key customers in Africa. Now dedicated teams in Ghana, Kenya and South Africa will enable us to be even closer to our regional clients and partners.”
According to Fournier, the Africa telecom markets in the world, one of the fastest growing in the world, is characterised by a strong uptake of voice, messaging and mobile payment services and an increasing use of data services thanks to increased smartphone adoption.
Fournier added: “In recent years, we have seen strong growth in the region, and now over 100 mobile operators in Africa are using our network for their connectivity needs. We have been particularly effective in optimising our solutions to meet their requirements by increasing their voice and roaming revenues.”
A large part of BICS’ success lies in the fact that it operates a mosaic-style offering of communications products that can be provided either comprehensively or flexibly to meet the individual requirements of its customers.
