United Arab Emirates Minister of Economy HE Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori offered the assistance of his government in locating Namibia’s underground oil reservoirs during a visit by Namibian Trade and Industry Minister Calle Schlettwein, NBC’s National Radio reported.

“Mark my words, oil can be found in Namibia, and we are competitive enough to assist Namibia to discover its own underground oil reservoirs. We have so much interest in that industry,” Al Mansoori was quoted as saying.

The UAE official continued by noting that if oil was found in Angola, “then it can also be found in Namibia, because the two countries’ geographical landscapes are similar”.

The two ministers also discussed business opportunities in the aviation and tourism industries, with Al Mansoori suggesting that Schlettwein talk to Air Namibia about initiating direct flights from Namibia’s Hosea Kutako International Airport to Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

Schlettwein and his delegation, which comprises specialists from his ministry, the Namibia Trade Forum and Namibia’s Offshore Development Company, were attending the three-day Global Trade Development Summit in Dubai, attended by 600 government and business leaders.
