Ras Al Khaimah’s RAK Hospital has entered into a joint venture agreement with Shalby Hospitals, and Indian medical enterprise located Ahmedabad, Gujarat and a hub for joint replacement surgeries and pioneer of a total knee replacement (TKR) surgery technique.
Shalby will also manage the complete Orthopedic Department at RAK Hospital, which receives local patients, GCC patients and international patients from Africa, the USA and UK.
“RAK Hospital has been attracting a large number of patient’s from African countries for various surgical procedures and now we are here to offer the best in joint replacement at an attractive and affordable cost to local as well as international patients,” said Dr Raza Siddiqui, executive director of RAK Hospital and CEO of the Arabian Health Care Group.
As part of the agreement, a team of experienced medical specialists will regularly visit RAK Hospital to conduct procedures including the TKR operations and total hip replacements.
These will be led by Dr Vikram Shah, chairman and head of Orthopedics Department at Shalby Hospitals, whose ‘Zero’ technique for TKR surgeries result in a drastic reduction of the typical two hours taken to perform the surgery and enables the patient to start walking within three hours.
He claims to have conducted more than 52,000 Joint replacement surgeries with his team till date, and to presently conduct more than 20 surgeries a day — around 600 surgeries a month.
Dr Shah added: “At our Ahmedabad International Patient Care Centre, we cater to almost 200 patients every month from the middle-east and Africa. Now we are pleased to extend the same expertise to benefit the patients of other destinations through RAK Hospital.”
Shalby Hospitals also has a presence in Africa through a series of outpatient clinics.
