Mother Africa, a circus troupe comprising performers from Tanzania and Ethiopia, has held captivating shows during Eid al-Adha festival organised by Qatar Tourism Authority in the outdoor theatre stage of Souq Waqif in Doha.
The group was specially flown in for the celebrations, and performed African music and dance, juggling, acrobatics and balancing acts to an appreciative audience of packed crowds.
Winston Ruddle, director of the group, told the Gulf Times: “The group was established in 2006 and has three troupes specialising in different acts. Before members perform on stage, each trains from six months to three years depending on how fast they are able to learn.”
In all, around 30 artists aged between 13 and 42 years took part in the shows.
