Bahrain Maritime & Mercantile International (BMMI) has acquired interests in Gabon and South Sudan as part of its ongoing plans for further expansion into the African market through the company’s subsidiary, Global Sourcing & Supply (GSS).
GSS is an integrated facilities management company that specialises in providing temporary structures and hospitality services to the mining, infrastructure and oil and gas industries, in both the onshore and offshore sectors.
In Gabon, the group has now acquired land occupation rights and a logistics base in Port-Gentil, the country’s second largest city and leading seaport, for a sum of $5.16m.
Meanwhile in both Sudan and South Sudan, GSS has fully acquired its joint venture partnership at a cost of $747,700.
In a BMMI statement, the move will, “reinforce its reputation as one of the most quality-driven, international and steadily growing companies in the region.”
Since 2008, GGS has achieved a record continuous expansion through the provision of a comprehensive range of contracted services to commercial, governmental and NGO clients, and today ranks as a leading provider of integrated facilities management in Africa.
The company currently operates in Mali, Gabon, Ghana, Sudan, South Sudan and Burkina Faso, and runs a hub in Kenya, with access to the markets of Tanzania, Uganda and Somalia.
Listed on the Bahrain Stock Exchange, BMMI has an annual turnover in excess of $230m.
