IATF aims to boost trade and economic integration within Africa and will run from 9 to 15 November 2023 in Cairo.

The 3rd Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), run by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), has announced that Cairo has been chosen as the event’s host city for 2023. The IATF aims to provide a significant platform to enhance trade and economic integration across the African continent. The event will take place from 9 to 15 November 2023.

Afreximbank, established in 1993, is a leading pan-African multilateral financial institution dedicated to financing and promoting intra-African and extra-African trade.

The African Union – Promoting unity and cooperation

The Intra-African Trade Fair is organized by Afreximbank in collaboration with the African Union, a continental organization that aims to promote unity, cooperation, and development among African nations, and other partners, aims to promote intra-African trade and provide a platform for buyers, sellers, investors, and service providers to explore business opportunities and forge partnerships across various sectors.

A vibrant city and thousands of exhibitors

In a statement released by Afreximbank, President Professor Benedict Oramah expressed his enthusiasm for the new venue, stating, “We are thrilled to announce that Cairo will serve as the host city for the 3rd Intra-African Trade Fair. This vibrant and strategic city will offer immense opportunities for fostering trade and driving economic growth among African nations.”

The decision to host the event in Cairo reflects Afreximbank’s commitment to ensuring widespread participation and accessibility, according to the company. With its strategic location, well-developed infrastructure, and a thriving business ecosystem, Afreximbank believes that Cairo is poised to facilitate productive engagements between African businesses and stakeholders.

The event, scheduled to take place this November, will bring together thousands of exhibitors from diverse industries, including agriculture, manufacturing, financial services, technology, and more. It will feature exhibitions, conferences, and business-to-business meetings, providing a conducive environment for networking and showcasing Africa’s vast economic potential.

    IATF Virtual

Alongside the in-person event, IATF Virtual will enable the showcasing of goods, services and investment opportunities on an interactive online platform. IATF Virtual will continue after the Fair has concluded.

“We are confident that Cairo’s selection as the host city will contribute to fostering regional integration and unlocking the continent’s trade potential. The Intra-African Trade Fair will serve as a catalyst for economic transformation and pave the way for increased investments, job creation, and sustainable development,” Prof. Oramah added.
