AJEX Logistics Services partners with Africa Union Holdings Group to enhance logistics and supply chain services between Africa and the Middle East, fostering economic cooperation and trade connectivity.

AJEX Logistics Services (site), a key player in express distribution and shipping solutions in the Middle East, has entered into a strategic partnership with Africa Union Trading and Africa Union Aviation, both subsidiaries of Africa Union Holdings. This agreement, signed at the Saudi Trade Attaché’s office in Sandton, Johannesburg, aims to significantly improve logistics and supply chain services between Africa and the Middle East.

    Expanding footprints in key regions

The newly signed agreement supports the growth objectives of both AJEX and Africa Union Holdings. While Africa Union Holdings seeks to extend its influence across the GCC countries, AJEX aims to broaden its reach throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. The collaboration ultimately aims to enhance trade connectivity and foster further economic cooperation between the two regions.

Mohammed AlBayati, Group CEO of AJEX Logistics Services, emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership, stating, “This partnership between AJEX Logistics Services and Africa Union Holdings Group comes at a pivotal time when trade relations between Africa and the Middle East are poised for significant growth. With both regions seeking to diversify economic partnerships and reduce dependency on traditional trade corridors, this collaboration is a forward-looking initiative that aligns with the broader goals of increasing trade volumes and enhancing economic cooperation.”

    Leveraging strengths

The partnership is designed to leverage the strengths of both companies to seize emerging opportunities in various sectors, including technology, agriculture, healthcare, and energy, AlBayati said. By doing so, the companies aim to contribute significantly to the economic prosperity of both Africa and the Middle East.

James Ndambo, CEO of Africa Union Holdings, expressed his excitement about the new venture, saying, “We are thrilled to embark on this partnership with AJEX Logistics Services, marking a new chapter in our journey towards building stronger trade and logistics ties between Africa and the Middle East. This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to enhancing our service offerings and expanding our reach, ultimately facilitating smoother, more efficient trade flows that benefit businesses and consumers alike.”

    Streamlining operations for enhanced efficiency

Under the terms of the agreement, AJEX and Africa Union Holdings will work closely to streamline their operations and maximize efficiencies across various logistics services, including shipping, airfreight, trucking, rail freight, and last-mile delivery. The framework stipulates that all AJEX cargo destined for Africa will be managed by Africa Union Holdings during the final leg of delivery. Conversely, all Africa Union Holdings cargo bound for the Middle East will be managed by AJEX during its final delivery stage.

This strategic partnership not only enhances the logistics capabilities of both companies, but also represents a step towards realizing the shared vision of increased trade volumes and enhanced economic cooperation between Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. By optimizing supply chain operations and capitalizing on mutual strengths, AJEX and Africa Union Holdings are well-positioned to support and drive economic growth in both regions.
