The Dubai Chamber event was attended by a high-level Mozambican delegation and highlighted investment opportunities across a wide range of economic sectors, hosting over 100 bilateral meetings.

UAE companies met with their Mozambican counterparts in over 100 bilateral meetings during the recent Dubai-Mozambique Business Forum organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, the Mozambican Industrial Association (AIMO) and the Federation for the Improvement of the Business Environment in Mozambique (FAN).

    A range of opportunities

Over 100 participants attended the Forum including His Excellency José Maneia, Consul General of Mozambique in Dubai, and a Mozambican trade delegation representing 18 companies. The sessions covered investment opportunities in a range of different economic sectors. The Mozambican representatives included companies from the energy, oil and gas, food industries, tourism and services sectors. The attendees had the opportunity to visit the Mozambique pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai and obtain more information from Commissioner General Miguel Mkaima about the work carried out to promote the country.

    Strategic importance

For his part, Omar Khan, Director of International Offices at Dubai Chamber of Commerce, described Africa and Mozambique as markets of strategic importance to Dubai, which offer huge trade and investment potential. Khan noted that Dubai remains a preferred hub for African companies that leverage the emirate’s position to expand their global footprint, adding that the Chamber’s representative office in Maputo assists Mozambican companies with their entry into the Dubai market.
