Namibia launches Digital Nomad Visa

Digital Nomad Visas are now available for travelers to Namibia as the country seeks to create a welcoming environment for remote, independent workers.

The Namibia Digital Nomad Visa is an initiative by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) to provide travelers looking for a breath of fresh air and a chance to immerse in different cultures while working independently and remotely. The visa is valid for up to six months.

The visa application is completed online and further bookings for accommodation, flights and vehicle arrangements are easily accessible on the Namibia Digital Nomad Visa webpage.

The program allows for a swift and streamlined procedure to acquire a visa which all takes place online. The visa allows participants to work, travel and study in Namibia. It will be issued for a total of six months upon arrival.

Digital nomads and tourism

As a leading tourist destination on the African continent, the government created the new system to ensure potential visitors have access to program that encourage travel to Namibia with little to no paperwork and minimal bureaucracy.

Applicants wanting to take advantage of the Namibia Digital Nomad Visa will have to prove that they earn enough money to be self-sufficient.

Required income

They will need to demonstrate proof of income/funds (through a payslip or employment contract) to sustain themselves and dependents – USD 2,000 for the applicant, USD 1,000 for an accompanying spouse and USD500 per accompanying child per month.

Applicants must also have valid travel documents, health or travel insurance to cover risks while in Namibia. Approximately USD 62 will be required upon arrival as payment for the visa.
