Namibia and Qatar discuss improving relations with regard to the energy sector as the CEO of Qatar Energy meets with Namibia’s president in Windhoek.

Namibia and Qatar discussed strengthening relations between the two states with regard to the energy sector in a series of discussions on 10 October. Qatar Minister of State for Energy Affairs H.E. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, who is also CEO of Qatar Energy, met Namibian President H.E. Dr. Hage Gottfried Geingob in Windhoek for the talks.

    Oil wells

Minister Al-Kaabi said Qatar Energy anticipates accelerating the development of two oil wells it discovered off the Namibian coast with joint venture partners earlier this year. Drilling work to be undertaken next year will give insight into deliverability and capacity. However, it is unclear when the two oil wells will enter production.
