Rotana, the hotel management company, is set to open the new resort in 2023. The company operates hotels in a number of North African states.

Rotana, a leading hotel management company with locations in the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe and Turkey, has announced its entry into the Algerian market with the opening of an Azure Rotana Resort & Spa in the port city of Oran. The new hotel is set to open in March 2023.

    Central location

The new venue sits on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and is close to Oran’s most prominent landmarks, including the Fort Santa Cruz and Place du 1er Novembre. The hotel will offer 185 rooms and suites of various sizes. Overall, the site will host five F&B outlets including a lobby lounge, a shisha terrace, an all-day dining restaurant, a pool bar, and a specialty restaurant.

Guy Hutchinson, President and CEO of Rotana, said, “As we continue expanding our footprint in the region, Azure Rotana Resort & Spa represents a key milestone for us as our first hotel in Algeria. North Africa has tremendous potential, and we look forward to further growing our portfolio in the region. Setting new standards in design and hospitality, our new resort will ensure we deliver on our brand promise of “Treasure Time” and make for a great destination holiday for families and visitors to enjoy.”

    Business and tourism

The Azure Rotana Resort & Spa will offer a range of services and amenities including a contemporary spa and treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a sauna and a children’s activity club. The grand ballroom will cater to up to 300 people and the resort will also offer three fully equipped meeting venues and a business center.

Ali Saradjia, CEO of Chez Saradjia Group, the company that owns the Azure Rotana Resort & Spa, said, “Rotana is our partner of choice to help realize our aspirations for the hospitality landscape in Algeria. With their experience in hotel management, we are confident of achieving our project goals that will serve the tourism and hospitality sectors even further. We look forward to providing guests with a memorable experience taking advantage of Azure’s stunning beachfront setting.”

The announcement of the Oran location follows the opening of the Luxor Rotana in Egypt in July.

    Promoting Algeria

The Algerian government has been promoting the country as a potential site for real estate investments within the tourism sector and recently hosted a Qatari delegation which included members of the tourism and hotel industries.
